Kids and adults usually enjoy seeing wild animals up close and personal. The only problem is that we really shouldn't be interacting with them. They don't call them "wild" for nothing! Lindsay, the Webmaster of this site has compiled lots of interesting material related to outdoor animals. This isn't just for kids, by the way.
We'll start with what adults might need to know. Lets talk about bats, shall we? Many of us don't like them but we cannot overlook the fact that they are a great mosquito repellent. A single bat can eat up to 3,000 mosquitoes a night! That alone makes them worth attracting to the area. A bat box hung up in the yard will bring them right to you. Detailed plans to build your own bat house are found here or you can order one. Maybe you enjoy butterflies and birds buzzing through the yard. Lindsay has many photographs and facts about various birds and butterflies. She also has some instructions on making various feeders and nesting boxes. If you find an orphaned bird or bunny this summer, you may be interested in checking the Orphaned Animals page. According to Lindsay it may not be orphaned at all. Maybe you don't have an orphaned animal but you are so frustrated with their parent you want to orphan them. Squirrels in the bird feeder? Skunks under the house? Go to the Problems page and get some advice for getting rid of pesky creatures. I didn't even get to the animals yet! You'll find the typical ones here. Wondering about Lindsay's age? In just 11 short years she has really accomplished a lot. Until next time.
