Surfing Fun Remember the days when families used to gather around the Scrabble board? Maybe they would play a friendly game of Monopoly? Not anymore. Families (and individuals) can have a blast surfing the net AND winning prizes. This site has just launched their Summer 2001 contest and it is so totally cool! If you can't join the game because of busy summer activities, check back the first week or two of October. That is when the next contest is slated to start. Now what is all the hoopla about here?
"The Children's Web Surfing Alliance provides effective educational online programs that help users increase their comfort level with the Internet as a functional tool for their daily lives." (From their mission statement) To put it simply: they want people to enjoy the Internet and use it on a regular basis. This contest is a fantastic idea as it fulfills their mission statement in a wonderful way. Let me say the appearance of the site is colorful and easy to use. You must sign up to play. We chose to sign up as a family as some of the questions might be hard for the kids and we can all have fun together. To play you click on the CyberStation Logos (the sponsoring websites), click on the Cybersurfari link there and find the clue. When you solve the clue, you submit it and enter your personal keycode. The more clues you solve the better your chances are of winning. It is fun for everyone. Just read the testimonials from satisfied participants. They are scattered throughout the site. There are t-shirts and other things to win including cash prizes. I think just setting aside time for family is the prize you will treasure when you stroll down memory lane. The kids won't say, "Remember when we won those t-shirts?" They will say, "Remember when we spent time together playing that fun game? What was it called again?" Until next time.
