Memories for a Lifetime
From Jillian, giving credit to her friend Karen

With the cost of greeting cards I tend to look for the frugal way out. When my daughters were toddlers I bought the huge, fancy, $5.00 (I am sure this same kind costs $10.00 now) valentine card; but this was a one time purchase.

Every year I write one special paragraph summarizing the year or going over a sentimental moment from our year. I have done this for eight years now and am getting to the point of adding an additional paper into the binding; but no problem. I am not much of a writer but these cards are wonderful to pull out every year, make a new entry and then read together what has taken place over time. I realize the issue here isn't savings as much as it is sentiment but who wants a stack of miscellaneous cards over the years and how many of them actually do get thrown away.

This idea isn't original. I got this from a friend whose husband bought one wonderful anniversary card and every year does the same. She has twenty years of entries--how wonderful! There are many other card-giving times of the year that this idea can be applied.
